When God Meets Us in the Dust

June 02, 20263 min read

For the past few weeks, things have been quieter around here.

Not because I haven't had anything to say, but because I've been spending more time listening than speaking. It's been a season of reflection, prayer, and seeking God's direction for the road ahead. Some seasons come with clear answers and obvious next steps. Others feel heavier. Slower. They leave us carrying questions we never expected to ask and waiting longer than we'd like for clarity to come.

This has been one of those seasons for me.

Not a season without God, but a season where I've needed Him more.

Recently, I spent time verse mapping Psalm 119:25-26, and one phrase settled deeply into my heart:

"My soul clings to the dust; revive me according to Your word."

The image stopped me.

Dust isn't a picture of strength or confidence. It isn't the place we imagine ourselves when life is going well. Dust is where we find ourselves when we're weary, discouraged, stretched thin, or simply out of answers. It's the place where we realize we don't have enough strength to carry ourselves forward.

And yet, what struck me most wasn't the dust itself.

It was God's response to it.

As I sat with these verses, I was reminded that God is not intimidated by our weakness. He doesn't turn away when life feels messy. He doesn't shame us for struggling or demand that we clean ourselves up before coming to Him. Instead, He meets us right there. In the middle of the uncertainty, the questions, the exhaustion, and the waiting.

That's exactly where I've found Him.

Not waiting for me on the other side of the struggle, but walking with me through it.

One song I've listened to repeatedly during this season is Hope Has a Name. The words have been a steady reminder that hope isn't simply an emotion that comes and goes depending on our circumstances. Hope is a Person.

Hope is Jesus.

Hope is knowing that even when I can't see what God is doing, He is still working. It's trusting that His plans remain good when the path ahead feels unclear. It's believing that hard seasons do not get the final word because God does.

And He has always been faithful.

As I look back over these past few weeks, I don't see a season where God was absent. I see a season where His presence showed up in quieter ways. In Scripture that spoke directly to what I needed, in prayers whispered when I didn't know what else to say, and in unexpected moments of peace that reminded me I wasn't carrying any of this alone.

I still don't have all the answers or a clear path forward.

But I've come to realize that my confidence doesn't rest in having answers. It rests in the One who does.

The One who revives weary souls.

The One who brings life to dry places.

The One who meets His children in the dust and refuses to leave them there.

If you're walking through your own hard season right now, I want to gently remind you of something.

God sees you.

He hears every prayer, even the ones that feel unfinished. He has not forgotten you, and He is not distant from your struggle. If you feel like you're sitting in the dust today, you are not beyond His reach. In fact, you may be exactly where His grace is waiting to meet you.

Because our God is faithful.

And He still brings life to dusty places.
