When You’re Drowning in Motherhood
Hey mama.
If you're reading this with a baby on your hip, dishes in the sink, a to-do list that’s been re-written five times, and a heart that feels heavy and hollow all at once… I just want to say:
I see you.
But more importantly, God sees you.
Motherhood is beautiful. But let’s be honest, it’s also breathtaking in the worst ways sometimes.
The kind of breathlessness that comes not from joy, but from pure exhaustion.
The kind of drowning that doesn’t make a splash, just a slow, steady sinking under the weight of laundry piles, emotional overload, mental clutter, and a schedule that feels out of control.
You used to feel capable. You used to laugh more. You used to dream.
Now, you’re just trying to survive the day without crying in the closet.
If that’s where you are, you’re not alone and you’re not failing.
But you might be overdue for a reset.
Not just for your home, but for your heart.
What Is a Heart + Home Reset?
It’s not another productivity hack.
It’s not about finally getting your act together.
And it’s definitely not about hustling your way back to joy.
It’s a gentle return to what matters.
It’s about making space for peace. Not just in your home, but in your soul.
It’s about loosening your grip on control and letting God step in with something better: clarity, calm, and grace.
Because here’s what I’ve learned (the hard way):
When your heart is overwhelmed, your home usually feels it.
And when your home is out of rhythm, your heart can start to shut down too.
But the beautiful thing?
You don’t have to fix everything all at once. You just have to come back.
Back to Simplicity
Back to rhythms that make sense for your family and your season.
Back to small daily habits that anchor your day and bring a sense of calm in the middle of the chaos.
Back to the God who offers rest right now—not once the house is clean or the to-do list is done.
“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
Friend, that invitation isn’t just for Sunday mornings or quiet times that feel impossible to carve out.
It’s for the middle of the school drop-offs, the crumbs under the high chair, and the 3pm emotional crash.
It’s for you. Right now.
Even Now, I Still Get Overwhelmed
I want you to know that this need for a reset doesn’t disappear just because your kids get older.
Some of mine have grown and moved out, and I still find myself drowning in the overwhelm at times.
I start throwing a full-on pity party. I see the mess, the missed opportunities, the imperfections. Everything starts to feel like too much. I spiral into frustration and discouragement.
But when I pause long enough to look within, beneath the surface frustration, there’s always this quiet, holy longing.
A longing to stop.
To breathe.
To draw close to the Lord.
To be held—not because I’ve earned it, but because I am His.
He meets me right there, in the middle of my mess.
And mama, He’ll meet you too.

You Don’t Need to “Bounce Back.” You Just Need to Breathe Again.
Mama, you don’t need to go back to the woman you were before.
You’ve grown. You’ve weathered hard days. You’ve carried so much.
But you can come back to the things that fill your soul.
You can come back to rhythms that feel like grace.
You can let go of the pressure and start again with God leading the way.
He’s not asking for performance.
He’s offering peace.
So if you’re drowning in motherhood right now, consider this your lifeline:
A gentle reset. A breath of fresh grace. A way back.
You're not alone and you are deeply held.
A Prayer for the Journey
Lord,
Thank You for walking with us through the beauty and the mess of motherhood.
Give us grace for the moments we stumble, strength for the days we feel overwhelmed, and hearts that stay soft toward You.
Remind us often that we don’t have to do this alone. You alone are our steady place.
Lead us back to Your peace, one gentle step at a time.
Amen.
